ORT Israel

ORT is the largest educational network in Israel. Established in 1949, it has trained over 500,000 graduates, most of them in science and technology. The ORT Israel network provides educational programs for over 100,000 students in 160 schools and colleges with 8,000 educators and admin.

Science and technology have always been at the core of ORT Israel's mission. ORT Israel programs are fostering and encouraging young students to develop their abilities and careers in High-Tech and advanced scientific studies

ORT Israel Moshinsky Centre for R&D is constantly involved in researching and developing educational materials, teaching methods, ICT platforms and e-learning. The center is implementing innovative, pedagogical and organizational processes in schools.


ORTIsrael network: mission, values and vision


Founded in 1949, ORT Israel will continue to be Israel’s leading educational network, instilling in its students values and a broad education, with an orientation towards science and technology.

 Mission

The network’s institutions – 6-year comprehensive schools, industrial schools, education centers, practical engineering colleges and academic colleges for youth and adults – will be leaders, each in its own competitive area.

Vision principles

a. The network develops its students’ social values through “ORT Youth for

     the Community” – volunteering activities contributing to the individual, the  

     community and society at large.

b. The networks institutions will foster value-laden education alongside

    science, technology and ICT education, and will prepare its graduates for

    success in the academic world, the military, advanced and other industries.

    It will help them realize their potential, talents and tendencies in order to

    promote their social and economic mobility.

c. The network’s institutions will be spread around the country, including

     peripheral areas, and will provide high quality education to all layers and

     sectors of Israeli society.

d. The network will use the advantage of its size both for the pooling of

     resources and to the mutual benefit of learners and staff.  

e. The network will pioneer development and implementation of innovative

     study tracks and curricula in science and technology, online teaching-

     learning materials and quality learning projects including intervention programs to promote student achievement.

f. The network will cultivate its human capital: teachers, principals, and

   administrative staff as an innovative learning organization, to suit the needs

   of science-based industries, the military and Israeli society.

g. The network will cultivate a culture of quality service to both internal and

    external customers, using advanced management pedagogical and

    organizational systems.

h. The network will be fully transparent and reliable in all its dealings with

    partners and state bodies.

 

ORT Israel goals for 2010


4 mandatory goals:

1. Strengthening Jewish identity and the ties to the State of Israel and increased heritage studies in the various sectors (starting from 2007)

2. Enhancing value-laden education: ORT Youth for the Community, optimal educational climate, IDF recruitment (as of 2000, from 2004 – a mandatory goal)

3.  Implementation of science and technology innovation (2004 – elective goal, as of 2005 – mandatory goal)

4. Improving achievements and their quality, while increasing perseverance (from 2000, as of 2003 – mandatory goal).

 

Elective goals

1. Human Resources development (from 2006, from 2001 only two parameters – increasing scope of in-service courses for teachers and reducing teacher absenteeism)

2. Establishing measurement, evaluation and feedback  procedures (as of 2006)

3. Establishing successful learning processes – within and between schools (starting 2010)

4. Increasing the school’s attractiveness (as of 2000)

5. Increasing effective work organization in the school (from 2000, 2002-2004: mandatory goal)

6. Improving ICT (as of 2001, 2002-2003: mandatory goal)
